I have removed Chitika codes in my 6 sites two weeks ago. If you have been visiting this site and reading some articles, you’ll know that I only serve Google Adsense ads and Widgetbucks. Also, I’ve long given up on Smorty to make money online. 
Blog advertising makes money but sometimes, money earned is also dependent on the payouts of networks you are a member of.
What I did not like about Chitika is that the payouts are very low. Despite my traffic building efforts where my sites can get 5 to 10 thousand page views (total) per day, cost per mil (CPM) remains low. Well, perhaps I should have listened to them when they indicated in their website that Chitika is for sites with significant search engine traffic (traffic from any major search engine) and significant US traffic – something I have very little based on web analytics softwares that I use.
In the case of Smorty, this is a blog advertising network where many bloggers have stopped earning online for a long time now. Smorty is dead. It’s only a matter of time before the company officially declares its death.
I’m giving up on these two networks. I haven’t made enough money from working at home publishing articles. I think it’s even a blessing in disguise because Chitika caused my sites to load slower and they were just consuming extra bandwidth. Lately, I have observed that my sites load faster because of the removal of Chitika javascripts and my bandwidth has become less even with the same amount of traffic my sites get.

I have to agree with you that Smorty hasn’t been good for me either. PayPerPost also seems to have fallen recently and their forums are full of unhappy bloggers. In contrast, I tend to do quite well with Sponsored Reviews – well worth a look.

Good for you. However, some sites do not really make much money from adsense so they turn to paid blogging.

I just pasted the code of Chitika on my site… I am not going to remove them… Mostly my SEO post visitor are from US thus giving me more clicks… so far I earned $25 last month still waiting for it…
