I have recently observed in our place (Laoag City and Ilocos Norte) that China-made cellphones have invaded local electronic, computer and cell phone stores. I even saw in a hardware some cheap Nokia N95 8GB Clone cell phones and Toshibo Nokia N99i+ Mobile TV phones on display. Unbelievable.

The explanation to this phenomenon (China cell phone invasion) is simple – price. Economic problems dictate the need to purchase items that can be acquired at lower prices. The lower the prices, the better. however, quality of the items like cheap cell phones cannot be guaranteed. Quality, in times like these, are willingly compromised by the eager but price-conscious consumer. For an average Filipino like me, savings made on items like cell phones can better serve the family in other ways like food, medicine, bills and home rentals.
