Drug education has become part of the Philippine curriculum since the late 80s. We were in high school when the subject was introduced. It was also the time the Philippine government recognized the need to educate the youth about the ill effects of using drugs.
The educational system was still doing great at that time because the incidence of drug addiction decreased for a while until it became a national concern in the mid-90s.
Parents and children alike should be educated about this menace. It should be noted that many drug dependents are victims - misguided souls. In my interviews with some of these people (data needed for my research), I found out that most of them suffer from depression either due to family problems, failing lovelife and/or career. Some of them have entered a drug treatment center at least once.
For the dependents who belong to affluent families in the Philippines, one of the desperate moves by parents is to enter their children in a drug rehab center because it there where they could find education, guidance and perhaps peace of mind. Most rehabilitation center in the Philippines, particularly private rehab centers, come with great amenities like a sports complex, skills training center and the like.
In Malibu, you can also find a drug rehab with great facilities and drug rehab program. Cliffside Malibu is a residential drug rehab, alcohol rehab center and extended care facility for adults suffering from drug addiction, alcoholism, depression, eating disorders, and other related disorders. If you live near that place and you have a loved one who is dependent on drugs, don’t hesitate to do what is right for him. Visit Cliffside Malibu and see what they can do for your loved one.
