I’ve been on a blog holiday for so long because of my problems with my WordPress databases (this blog excluded). One very important lesson I’ve learned from all the things I’ve gone through the past week is to backup WordPress blogs (databases in particular) to handle future errors.
When I say errors, this could be a variety of so many things that you’ll pray you’ll never have like fatal or parsing errors in your database where your site/s cannot be accessed by anyone including you, the owner.
Just a few tips for WordPress users like me. Use you Export function under the Manage tab in your administration dashboard and backup your MySQL databases in the PhPMyAdmin section of your web control panel. Do this as a precautionary measure so that if anything goes wrong with your WordPress-powered sites, you’ll be able to reinstall all files that you need to revive your sites. Also, backup your photos and videos in your wp-content/uploads folder. Sometimes, the MySQL backup will not contain all the photos you have previously uploaded. The server timeout will prevent the image or video files from being uploaded successfully although there will be no error message stating such. This must be one of the weaknesses or flaws of MySQL and the backup utility available. As much as possible, do not use plugins that will automate this task because they might cause more trouble if the problem with your blogs is server-side.

Kaya pala absent ka ha. I’ve been doing back-ups of my database thru my PhpAdmin. Learned it from WP, but until now di ko pa memorize, kelangan ko pa rin ng guide.
