In 2006, when my family and I went to the United States, we had this terribly funny experiences all throughout our trip. Since it was our first time to be in the land of milk and honey, we really were not sure what we were doing for the first couple of days. The environment is different, the language is different (slang English) and the culture as a whole is different.
At a burger joint in San Francisco, we were looking for “pinakbet” and “longganisa”. All they had were patties and footlong. lol! We had so much fun during our 30-day vacation. My dream finally came true when we went to Las Vegas to play games. I did not even know that the “craps” game was the “7-1″ dice game we play here in the Philippines where we used to bet text cards or rubber bands (not money) as kids.
After the vacation, we decided that when we take another vacation in the future, we’ll have to consult online travel guides. Our hosts (grandparents) were not really the outgoing type so we had to explore the places we’ve been to. And gosh! It was utterly difficult at first but it turned out to be a lot of fun because we’ve been bar hopping everyday. lol!
I suggest, when you’re planning on a vacation, and looking for ideas to do, especially in the US, look for a travel guide like Knotts berry farm tickets. You might also checkout the signup page of the Trusted Travels eNewsletter and enter to win a $150 Magellan’s Gift Certificate. This great offer ends on August 31st, 2008.

You should have went to the Filipino resto in SF. They serve Filipino foods there. We had a great time too when hubby and I went to SF. We’ve seen the famous Golden gate, the long and winding road in Lombar St and also we went to visit a college classmate. My 2 college were with us and their families so we had a sort of reunion.
